Ullandhaug Tower

High above the town

The tower at Ullandhaug is a telecommunicationtower, and also definitely a landmark in Stavanger. Built in 1964 by the Norwegian official telecommunication bureau, and 64 meters tall. Fun fact: The hill named Ullandhaug has a rock that defines its height. The rock gives Ullandhaug at an elevation of 138,95 meters above sea level, and – since this is a natural rock, is is “spproved” by the official mapping authorities. The tower, has ist’s top at 202 meter above sealevel, making it the tallest building in Stavanger. You can climb a few stories up to a viewpoint – open for public and (would you believe) free of charge! There is also a small cafe tehre, open on Sundays February to June, and August to december between 12:00 to 15:00 Sundays. At least at the time of writing.
